I get asked this Question a lot! What should we wear? What Colors are best? So here a few tips to make that decision a little easier.
1. For family or couples photos the key is blend but DO NOT match.
2. For family photos, pick a color pallet of 3-5 colors and tell everyone to stick with those colors. It’s amazing how things come together. But be careful not to pick a Color that you normally wouldn’t wear or that you feel doesn’t look good on you. You’ll be uncomfortable for your session and believe it or not that personality does show up in photos.
3. Don’t do all solids OR all patterns but mix and match it up.
For Example- Our Colors for Family pictures were Grey, Black, and Red. My husband wore a solid
black shirt, I wore a Grey sweater with a black flower attached, and our girls wore Grey shirts, red shawls, and black skirts to tie it all together. Make Sense? I hope so.If not I have included a photo below to give you a better idea.

4. Patterns do not necessarily have to match. Get creative
5. This is a BIG one. Accessorize!!! Boots. Hats. Jewelry, Hair Bows, Etc.
6. Go to your favorite clothing store. Look at their models. The pictures they have on display :) Pay special attention to how they group clothing together. For kids go into the Gap Kids store and look on their walls. Notice the way they layer the clothes. It might not be what you would do on a normal basis but for photos IT WORKS!!!
7. Go a little bit out there. Meaning, if you play it safe on your first clothing choice and you have the option to change wardrobe (which of course you always do with me) get crazy. Just be sure to have a clear theme or color palette that you want to stick to, and make sure that I am in on it so I can bring the appropriate props and take you to the appropriate locations to make the outfits work and not look goofy.
I’m always up for Things that are FUN......FRESH......things you won't see everyday :) Bright Yellows, Red High Heels, Vintage anything. Deep Purples. I could go on and on.
So Dress Up, Tutus for your little girls are always fun I love little tutu's with leggings (for colder weather) and pink boots,..or cowgirls boots are always adorable, cute vests for your boys, what little guy doesn't look adorable in a Hat? Hats are always a fun addition.....cowboy boots .. …And if your up for it and the weather is chilly put on those Coats and wear some hats and gloves too.
Just Remember the Key to Great Photos is to Have Fun with it and be relaxed, You’ll be amazed at how well everything will come together!
